UK Small Strips - Short Tour - Cherokee - Lots of images!

Recommended Posts

Just a short spin through some small strips - I don't manage to get a lot of time simming these days so just a few short hops...

Excellent start Jim, really enjoyed that. A great little aircraft for the tour and a lovely set of shots :thum:

Purrrtttyyy. I was flying the A2A Cherokee today for a short set of hops up some Cali-Valleys, plan to continue later up to the coast (after a Chores break...sigh...laundry) and as far as time allows tonight. Great little tour plane, that has gathered too much dust since their Comanche came out.

Cheers.

Matt.

LEG 2

OK, so the Comanche, VATSIM and the odd VA flight has taken me on a side track to this tour - so here is leg 2 - VATSIM was used but only Unicom no coverage. The flight went from Fenland to Duxford - a change of plan last minute as it was dark and could not see Fowlmere at all :)

Loving this!! I created an account just to join you and follow along.

Having a blast so far, finished the first two legs with  you.

The first one was a mess, I had to do a fly around and abort the landing, due to nasty weather.

The second leg was gorgeous and I'm looking forward to the third.

Thanks for this.

You know I have to apologise - since getting the Comanche this has been completely ignored. Maybe I will continue this with the Comanche on one of my streams some time. At least finish the route - I am glad people were enjoying this.

I have put a note in my phone to do this at some point :)

Couple of updates though - I now have Orbx England and also UK2000 VFR airfields too - so I would expect the scenery to be different.

Thanks

Thanks for the comments - I do stream on Twitch and you are more than welcome to join in on the fun, the link is in my signature. I also post on twitter when I am streaming too. I will more than likely stream the rest of this tour.

What plane are you using for your trip?

Those small UK airfields look much better with the UK2000 VFR Airfields packages installed, and there is a great freeware package of Duxford available.

YES!!  Just downloaded Vol 2 of the UK Airports, and Orbx UK.  Spent a half hour this morning checking out some airfield.

They look gorgeous.  Great set up for flying around the UK.

Orbx also do several small strips for Orbx England too - e.g. Shoreham, Goodwood. I am waiting for some sales to grab some more Orbx products - the time will come ;)

So, I managed to complete legs 3 and 4, but for a change, this time I streamed it and recorded my stream. Unfortunately this was the first time I had done this and found a few issues.

So the background music was not loud enough, the moving map bloody stopped working and to be honest I was not very happy with it in general. But, the legs and flying was great, the Cherokee was used and I had not been in that for a long time too :) Not all bad as it was a good learning curve, so next time at least I know to double check the map and to tweak my FSX volume.

Unfortunately, there were only a few dropin viewers and none of my regulars, so not much chatting, my next video will probably be the multiplayer session I will do and hopefully plenty of chatting - we shall see.

Thanks for viewing and here is the vid (skip to 4mins in after the starting soon screen - I am not a huge fan of video editing ;) )...

Nice flight. Great landing.

!! 1 hour video? How long does it take to upload something that size to YouTube? It takes over an hour for a 10 minute video for me!

I had the exact same problem until I upgraded my Internet to fibre. Now that video from start to finish took approximately 1hr to upload and then 15mins to publish - so around 1hr 15mins.

Thanks for the comment about landing vut rough for me but down and safe.

The A2A Cherokee.  It's my favorite Flight Sim plane, by far.  I'm a low & Slow guy, but need a little more beef to get around than the 172, and the Piper Cub provide.  The Cherokee is the perfect middle ground to me.
