  2. ORBX GOLDEN STATE CA

Picked this area up in the sale, Southern California......quick trip from KSEE to KSNA.......had to turn of AS16 as the cloud was so low......using one of my A2A craft.....I do think I can adjust the settings it seems to me on performance I could possibly dial up the detail a notch or 2 more....
  3. The FTX Central 3 debacle continues... I have several boxed copies of ORBX add ons which i purchased from 'Flightstore' ... NOT 'Flight Sim Store' How on earth do Install those? I can't find anything on the Orbx forum as everything relates to FSS. Am i being thick here? What on earth do i do with them? I'm already looking at the possibility of having to re-purchase all the Orbx software that hubby bought for me from FSS (which refuses to transfer them to me), and i am going to go spare if i have to re-purchase everything from Flightstore as well Help please guys..
  4. So here is my P3D V4 setup with URP and PTA - a flight from Glasgow to Plockton in the Comanche. I finally reached the 200 hours. Thanks for viewing - if you wish to watch the full stream, head over to my YouTube channel in my signature.
  5. A close collaboration between ORBX and IPACS, both teams have been quietly working away at this over the past months, bringing together the ground-breaking visual engine of Aerofly FS2 with the high detail and immersion you have come to expect from an ORBX HD Airport. For those who haven't had a chance to try AF FS2 yet, I strongly urge you to check it out. As a VFR experience, this is the best sim currently on the market, hands down. As you can see from the screenshots below, there is a clear mark-up in terrain quality - mountains look crisp, photoreal roads and railways are discernible all the way to the horizon, and both the shadow and atmospheric engines are stunning. Best of all, performance is through the roof - having spent a great deal of time learning from the IPACS team, I have discovered that they are passionate about tweaking the very best performance out of their engine as possible. In terms of the scenery itself, I've brought across the best elements of the FSX/P3D version that you've all been enjoying over the past month. Features expected from any next-gen ORBX airport are there - animated PeopleFlow, cars and trains, highly-detailed autogen vegetation and buildings, enormous coverage area, high-detail 2048 textures and dozens of landmarks. In addition, expect to see a couple of very exciting new features exclusive to AF FS2; naturally sloped runways, highly accurate crash detection (no more close-calls when flying under those bridges!), better-implemented spec/bump maps for the ground poly, and some very nifty shadow/night textures. Lastly, the optimisation of this engine really makes a difference - performance, microstutters and VAS usage are genuinely nothing to worry about around Innsbruck. I've been easily getting upwards of 130-140fps with maxed settings. Lastly, for those that own or are looking forward to a VR headset, AeroFly FS2 provides native compatibility for both Occulus Rift and HTC Vive. The smoothness and performance of the sim with, coupled with the native compatibility, make this the superior platform for VFR flying - I'm sure JV will chime in with his own experiences with the OR and AeroFly. CURRENT PRICING and RELEASE DETAILS - Owners of the FSX/P3D version of LOWI will receive a 40% discount for the AeroFly FS2 version. - Full price will be AUD$39.95 (€27, US$30, £23 approx.) or AUD$24 (€17, US$18, £14 approx.) at the discounted price - Release is scheduled for June 15th 2017 (a special request from John - it's his birthday after all!) - FTX Innsbruck for AeroFly FS2 will be previewed live at FlightSimCon on June 10th 2017; this will be streamed via our good friends at AirDailyX - This is just the first of many ORBX airports for AeroFly FS2! 6. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE APRIL 28TH 2017 - Toowong Australia and Tubigen Germany ORBX AND IPACS FORM PARTNERSHIP TO CO-PUBLISH HD CONTENT FOR AEROFLY FS 2 Following many months of planning and collaborative development, Orbxs and IPACS are pleased to announce that both companies will be publishing HD Orbx airports and other content for the Aerofly FS 2 simulator. Aerofly FS 2 (AFS2) is a state-of-the-art 64-bit flight simulator which is recognised as having the most efficient and highest performing 3D engine on the market today, with superb lighting and animation support and the smoothest VR experience available for any simulator anywhere. The first two titles to be published are LOWI Innsbruck Airport in Austria, and KCGX Merill C. Meigs Field in Chicago USA, both which have been faithfully ported and enhanced for the AFS2 platform and even add features like a sloping runway at LOWI. "I am extremely excited about this new emerging sim platform", says John Venema, Orbx CEO. "We have found a development partner in IPACS with the same ideals, passion and professionalism as the Orbx team and these past months have been a pleasure in terms of cooperation and joint creativity". Dr. Torsten Hans, CEO of IPACS adds; "We're absolutely thrilled to be co-publishing new HD content from Orbx, a company who we have enormous respect for and have been aware of the quality of their work for some time. I am looking forward to further development of this partnership and many new exciting features to come to AFS2". LOWI and KCGX will be available to purchase from 15th June 2017 on the OrbxDirect.com web store and will be managed by Orbx's FTX Central application for automatic updates. Likewise, for existing IPACS customers who prefer Steam LOWI and KCGX will also be available to purchase from the Steam store as DLC. Exclusive to Orbx customers who have an OrbxDirect.com account, there will be a 40% discount offered to anyone who has previously purchased those airports for FSX/P3D. Orbx intends to offer this discount for all future content sold across different sim platforms. The discount works both ways, so any customers who purchase the AFS2 version of LOWI and KCGX first, will be offered 40% off for the FSX/P3D version. LOWI and KCGX will be previewed live at Flightsimcon 2017 in Connecticut from June 10th and will include VR demonstrations as well. Watch for more announcements from Orbx/IPACS very soon!

  9. John Venema has just posted his end of year review of 2016 and an exciting insight on what to expect in 2017, I encourage you to take a look here http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/127182-orbx-2017-roadmap/ especially at their top secret projects for 2017. The tantalising tidbits (except one, Orbx Direct) end in the words " Oh, and it will be 64-bit"! (Stumped! VR dedicated)? (DoveTail Flight Sim?) (Prepar3D v4?) (X-PLANE 11?) (Orbx Direct/FTXC?) Discuss?
  10. News in from John Venema Hello everyone, For some time now we've felt that there has been some disparity between the features and content of our airports versus their pricing. So we spent some time creating a matrix of features of each airport which resulted in them being placed in one of three tiers; Silver, Gold or Platinum. What we found was that pricing all Orbx airports at Platinum pricing was taking away the unique extra value provided by airports with added features such as bonus airfields, helipads, large photoreal areas, number of models etc. So the result is that: 21 airports have been reduced in price by 37.5% to become the entry-level Silver tier 67 airports have been reduced in price by 17.5% to become the mid-range Gold tier 16 airports have remained at their current price to become the premium Platinum tier These pricing changes are effective immediately and available from OrbxDirect now! As we introduce new airports to our catalogue, they will be measured against our tiering criteria and priced accordingly. Our aim over the coming years is to focus more on Platinum quality airports which offer the most value for money by giving a lot more to experience, explore and enjoy.

  13. Parked at Welshpool

So I updated my old 172 chrome livery to have my normal registration - it used to be 'JD-29' as I was 29 when I painted her and was only just getting into the simming world back then. It was not so easy as I had a custom alpha on this one too so a bit more fiddling than usual. Well I took her out for an hours flight from East Midlands to Welshpool and grabbed a shot after parking...

  16. Flight simulation has been intertwined with the legendary Meigs Field for decades. Few airports hold as much nostalgia, familiarity, and emotion for aviation enthusiasts. Located on the coast of Lake Michigan, Meigs Field operated as the gateway to corporate Chicago for over half a century. Now, twelve years after its closure, Merrill C. Meigs Field (KCGX) has been recreated with the utmost attention to detail and accuracy. Depicted as it was in its final years, virtual pilots are welcomed to return to what was once the busiest single strip airport in the United States and enjoy it in high definition. Featuring a fully modeled terminal, highly detailed static aircraft, and other historically accurate elements, the airport has been brought back to life. In addition to the airfield itself, the city of Chicago waterfront and parks district has received a facelift to bring the area up to date. With over a decade of combined experience in flight simulation development, Alex Goff and Tim Harris have developed Meigs Field using latest technology to provide a beautiful and smooth flight simulation experience. Ultra detailed rendition of KCGX Meigs Field circa late 90's and early 2000's Extraordinarily detailed interior model of the terminal Many highly detailed Chicago landmarks, including Soldier Field, Cloudgate, Adler Planetarium, Navy Pier and The Shedd Custom CBD for Chicago skyline including Sears Tower, Aeon Center, Trump Tower, Hancock Center, and improved "generic" models for many other towers Advanced rendering, ambient occlusion and night-lighting Ground imagery at 30cm per pixel Beautifully modelled static aircraft 10m mesh Animated people Designed to work best with the FTX Global basepack By veteran developers Alex Goff and Tim Harris http://www.flightsimstore.com/product_info.php?products_id=3640

  20. Hello! I have recently installed Prepar3d and Orbx England and Wales. And I must say, unfortunately, I am very disappointed. Lets start with an issue I think of as the least important. Anyone who lives here in Wales knows that the scenery is very vibrant and green. However Orbx's Wales scenery (and England) appears very dull, grey and generally a bad representation of Wales. If this is an issue and the beautiful screenshots on the Orbx website are not works of Photoshop please let me know how to fix it! Secondly, and by far the most important issue is the fact that the water is BRIGHT GREEN! As you can see in the screenshots below. That's not right! If you know how to fix these issues please let me know. Adam Heit

  24. Wine Country! Welcome to KSTS Sonoma County Regional Airport, and the fifth Orbx airport project from Misha Cajic. Sonoma County is ideally situated about 40 nautical miles north-west of the SFO Bay area, as well as in between many of Orbx’s other FTX NCA projects. The airport itself has been modelled in huge detail, with accurate terminal interiors and building layouts, and advanced custom animations to bring the scenery to life, all topped off with rendering techniques for ambient shadowing and night lighting.
