Hi Mike,
Sorry to hear of your woes, perhaps it's a PC memory thing? Fuel maybe?
AFAIK AH has no direct influence over FSX other than the initial loads, everything else is just reading the information output by FSX.
Happy to be wrong on this as I appreciate how frustrating this is. Hopefully John or Duncan could enlighten us more / ask more relevant questions.

Mike

Sorry to read you being so down in the mouth, but just remember when down the only way left is up. Computers are as fickle as any female and I bet the gremlin is just lurkin either in AH or FSX. So things to try to get you back on your feet (As like you I am retired and love all the banter in AH as an onlooker). Have a look in the forum topics under FSX as I put a tweak in there today called "a simple virtual memory tweak", try it out you have nothing to lose and plenty to gain from it. Sometime its a simple fault in a computer that is easily corrected; that drive us nuts and 95% of the time it is simple. So cheer up mate, remember when Tony Blair got in; the music was "It will only get better" and look what it did for him, millions bloody millions of £'s for him only that is. :D

Try all these:

Defrag
Windows updates
Cup of tea
FSX repair
Acceleration repair
cup of tea

Keep us informed..

See I miss your banter already..

Mike, try it without the REX weather engine (not sure what the crack is with the new one) but about 80% of my flights in FSX with the old REX2 version resulted in a crash, or screen lock up for me.

Shame your having difficulty - I find some planes crash fsx for me so cannot use them - but this is all round not just an air hauler thing.

Don't want to sound like a kn*b but have you installed all service packs for AH?

Have you tried deleting your FSX.cfg (after backup of course) FSX will create a new one fresh

Defrag and graphics sliders might help too

Don't give up buddy :)

I am sad to hear about the problems you are having Mike.

Sometimes one just has a streak of bad luck. I happens unfortunately. Just remember that it can only get better after this :D

I would suggest running FSX with only the bare minimum of addons installed (scenery, weather etc.) and sliders at some low setting. Just to make sure it is not some computer or graphics overload that causes you problems. And of course, as other before me have suggested, make sure you are running the most current versions of all installed software.

Don't give up, we will sure miss your great stories around here... :(

And off course, when thing get frustrating, remember the old Hawaiian saying, Hang Loose! :thum:

Well, i reached 100% rep a few times with AH and the only problem (it happened once) i experienced, that the list of the pilots who wanted work, got so large that it took 10 minutes to load AH...but other than that, no issues. I'm using both default and addon AC-ts, so i think that the problem is not in AH. I don't have REX , so i can't say anything about. I got a crash of FSX with AH, maybe once or max. twice.

I don't have any advice to help you with your problem, Mike, but just wanted to say sorry your going through this and that I hope it gets figured out soon. :)

That's more like it my Lad,

24hours makes one great big difference in life (except prisoners). Now I did mention yesterday that I had put a tweak up on FSX section (increase Virtual memory) Have you tried it? I have been haveing the best results in my FSX since I did the tweak. Sssssstutters are gone (all maxed out), all Saitek controls behaving 99.9999r%, no black senery squares, Teasmaid workin great oops! and loading up faster, seconds rather than minutes. So try it, you may find it the cure to your problem.. Let me know if you do: that it also improves your FSX so that others can then follow us.

Best wishes and glad to see you 90% back :P :D :thum:

"Bojote's tweaks" what a load of poo! it screwed up all my eye candy when I tried it out, and could not notice anything running smoother in my FSX TBO :( .

Strange that I found the opposite it really helped my set-up run more smoothly. Very fickle is our FSX :)

Can't help on the technical stuff I rely on you and James for that stuff anyway :)

On the AI delays I assume you have checked aircraft condition is at 100% and none of your aircraft require their 100 hour check? Don't honestly know if that impacts on timing of delivery though.

I can suggest two things that might help.

1) There was a post on the JF/AH forum a while back suggesting, I think, to pause FS before selecting anything from the FSX top line menu. He reported that it greatly reduced his FSX crashes.

2) Registered (paid) FSUIPC includes an Auto-save utility that is very good. It's free in FS9 but you must have the registered version of FSUIPC to get it in FSX. Anyway, it saves once a minute and keeps the most recent ten. I've survived a number of CTDs in FS9 on AH flights using that. Just let AH run and restore one of the saved files. It will put you where you were, as you were - even fuel is the same. The only downsides are, 1) AH will log and charge you for a landing either at your origin or near where the crash occurred, and 2) if you use ATC or Radar Contact, they will have completely lost the bubble and your only real option is to just turn them off. The only really negative issue is having to pay a landing fee for a landing you didn't make, but that's usually chump change.

It's not a fix, but it's pretty good workaround - think of it as insurance.

John
